Old Town Park City

Friday, December 19th, 2008

There’s nothing quite like Old Town Park City anywhere in Utah.  In fact, it’s pretty unique regardless of where you look.  Aspen may come close in some aspects, Breck has some similar spots, but the geograhpically small area that is Old Town Park City tucked in between two mountains is magical.

If you’ve not stayed in old town for a ski holiday you should put it on your list of to-do’s. Waking from a home to Main Street for an elegant or home style dinner, perhaps a ski-in-ski out location, seeing the town lift rise above the back deck of your accomodations….it’s really pretty cool.

Aside from those benefits, I really like the slow pace that is tangible around Old Town.  Along with this is the friendly nature of those that live there year round and the many visitors that come to ski.

Utah Vacation Homes recently added Empire #3 to it’s collection of vacation homes in the Old Town area.  It has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths, a private hot-tub (a must for post ski and pre-dinner relaxing) and is an easy walk to Park City Mountain Resort and all of their amenities.

Perhaps I’m wrong about Old Town, but its charm and allure has cast a spell on me.  Am I the only one?

New Property in Bear Hollow

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Bear Hollow is a very nice little community located half way between Kimball Junction and The Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah.  I’ve blogged about Bear Hollow in the past and specifically about the variuos condos, townhomes and homes that Utah Vacation Homes has to offer.

This past month we added yet another home to the mix - Bear Hollow #11.  This home with 4 bedroom, 3.5 baths sleeps 12 making it a great ski vacation home for multiple families, couples or families with children.  The privacy of staying in your own home this close to shopping, dining, skiing and other activities is hard to beat.

I used to live just down the street from Bear Hollow so I know just how nice the location is.

There is a trail that you can walk or possibly cross country ski on which passes through Bear Hollow and ends at Kimball Junction in one direction and passes by The Canyons and in towards Park City in the other direction.  Late night strolls in the summer or winter will make you feel like you’re far away from the busy life. After all, isn’t that what a vacation should do?

Here are a couple of images of the property.  To see the rest, check out the Bear Hollow #11 page.

Deer Valley and the Jordanelle

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Utah Vacation Homes has been adding some simply amazing properties lately and this most recent one is a stand out.  Slopes and Shores #2 is truly an unique townhome located in between Deer Valley’s Jordanelle Gondola and the Jordanelle Reservoir.

This 4 bedroom 3.5 bath townhome sleeps 10 and is one of those places you can “escape” to and enjoy a vacation with family and friends. But you’re still within close proximity of the town of Park City just a few minutes away.

After a day of skiing, wouldn’t it be nice to come home to this:

In the Heart of Old Town Park City

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

There’s nothing quite like Old Town Park City in all of Utah.  The feel, the old miner homes, the shops and the adjacent mountains on either side make for unbeatable surroundings.

One of the lesser known historical features about the layout of what is old town and now present day Deer Valley Drive is that this road was once the “Red Light District”.  Only a couple of remaining miner’s cabins and relicts exist today but despite this a number of properties on lower Deer Valley Drive near the round-about have the look and feel of a modern day “old town” property.

Utah Vacation Homes recently added one such property to its rental pool - Aspen Grove #2 (pictured above).  Just steps from Main Street and the Town Lift, and a very short bus ride to the base of Deer Valley this 2 bedroom 2 bath condo is a real treat.

It was recently renovated and is in top condition.  If you’re headed to Park City this winter and would like the best of both worlds, Aspen Grove #2 is a premier location.

FYI - It’s also a great spot for anyone attending the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Little Belle at Deer Valley’s Silver Lake

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

When you think of a ski vacation to Deer Valley what comes to mind?

The perfectly groomed slopes?  Blue skies and powder?  Deer Valley’s famous turkey chili?

When I think about the perfect ski vacation to Deer Valley I think about all of the above as part of the perfect day, with my day ending at an exquisite condo or townhome next to the slope…in a place like Little Belle #2.  Although not ski-in/ski-out, Little Belle is as close as you can get - within a peaceful 100 yard walk.

Hot Tub with a View - Upper Norfolk in Historic Park City

    Thursday, September 25th, 2008

This is part of our “Hot Tub with a View” series which features properties whose hot tub has a view worth talking about.

Nestled in the hill side of old town, Upper Norfolk provides visitors with an unique view of Park City’s Historic Main Street and the rest of Park City beyond.  It’s a unique property in that its 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths are located on 3 separate floors.  The result - each floor offers a different view of Park City.

The hot tub is located on the bottom deck and during the winter when Christmas lights are strung across Main Street and most of the buildings have white lights on them, this hot tub view perched above it all is second to none.

Above is the view looking south down upon Historic Main Street and towards Park Meadows in the far distance.  The image below is looking to the north at the hills above Deer Valley’s Snowpark Lodge.  In the summer the trees provide additional privacy.

Aside from a one of a kind hot tub view, Upper Norfolk is just steps away from the Park City Mountain Resort ski run “Quittin’ Time” where you can ski down to the Town Lift . It’s also just steps from main street, accessed by outdoor stairs that are found in abundance in Park City’s Old Town.

If you want a bit of old town flavor with a ski vacation to Park City, Upper Norfolk would be near the top of my list.
